No its because they actually work. It's been documented on here the over exposure problems in sunlight, etc. One guy even got one where the camera was upside down inside the sealed little black box.

Wouldn't the screw have to go through the box from the inside, thus you wouldn't want it shorter, actually hopefully it would be a bit long to account for the thickness of the 1/2" MDF you are using?...

The Fs on the 6w3 is 42Hz it's not going to go quite as deep as a 12" but to say it's the same thing as a midbase driver that comes with a set of components is a little obsurd.
