Default Tires for DD

I've started the search for new wheels for my 2014 Touring/sport and I've got in narrowed down and think I know what wheel, now I need to decide on tires. I had been thinking about going all-season but from what I've been reading I get very mixed reviews. I'm in Alabama and although we don't get a lot of snow during the winter, we do have some cold temps. What kind of cold temps can summer tires actually stand?

Also, for those who DD their Z, what tires have the longest life? I really don't want to spend 1K+ every year for tires.

if you want all-season I would go with continental DWS
kenchan, Shadezz and Fountainhead like this.

I talked to Tire Rack and they say the magic number for summer tires is 40 degrees, below that, you start loosing grip. So, I guess my decision is All-Season tires or summer tires on new wheels and all seasons on different wheels.

My DWS's will never see snow in FL, but they grip much better in the rain than the Potenzas. We get a lot of rain in FL. They're softer in corners than the Potenzas but I don't really corner like that as a rule so no biggie for me.
I recommend the DWS for any occasion. A good all around tire.

As far as life of the tire....my Potenzas were 5 years old with about 15,000 miles on them when I changed them out, they still had usable tread. I gave them to the tire shop guys. Tire life depends entirely on usage. I usually dry rot the sidewalls before the tread wears out on my cars, I'm assuming the same will be true on the Z.

yah, but you're taking about the 050A's. those are different from even the 050 pole positions, and completely different from the S04's.

DWS is fine for dd, but they are softer than DW... DW is already very soft on the sidewall. they are comfy tires to dd in though. i run DWS on my dd actually in the winter time.
