TPMS dash light flashing
While coming home last night, the TPMS light came on, flashing. Of course I thought that I had picked up another nail, but when I pulled over and looked, the tires looked OK.
So, I reduced speed and drove the remaining couple of miles home and checked the pressure. OK all around. Same this morning. The owners manual says that flashing means a malfunction in the system (on startup, flashing for 1 minute then steady). Has anyone experienced this? Could it be a bad TPMS sending unit battery (or batteries), car is 4 1/2 years old? Does the Nissan Gold Preferred Warranty cover these batteries? |

I've had it happen a couple of times before but both times it cleared itself before I got to the shop to have it checked out.
On one of the occasions when I was checking the pressure I found the air in the tires seemed to be extremely moist. Don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. I've switched to filling my tires with Nitrogen and haven't had any further problems. |

Probably a stupid question, but did you check the air pressure in your tires? If so and they were good, take it to Nissan, you've got a bad sensor that needs to be replaced (or possibly they just need to be reprogrammed)

In my OP, I said that I checked the pressure when I got home and they were all right on.
Called my dealer and the service rep said that 5 years is about when the batteries start to go. He also said that my Gold Preferred plan will cover it. HOWEVER, like roadfever's post, it has cleared itself, at least for now. Maybe a piece of black tape over the light will fix the problem permanently Last edited by 9Zs_Ed; 04-29-2014 at 08:28 AM. |
