Uneven Rear Tire Ware
2012 370z w/ Sports Package, 16000 miles, both rear tires worn on outside down to 2/32", rest of tire 7/32"(same as when purchased).
Taking her to the dealer on Tuesday for an alignment check. Last service Oct. 2013, no wear indications given after service, only 300 miles before bringing her in this week after a long winter for oil change when notified of wear. Looking for advice as to whether or not this is normal. I have really ridden her easy. I have seen some other post on this topic, but none have provided the outcome of their experience with this type of ware. Obviously I will have to replace. How leverage tire mfg or dealership? |

We have never covered this subject before... Ever...
(COMPLETE SARCASM) The car is meant for the track. Buy yourself some camber arms and toe bolts. Stock alignment can't get you out of the range where the inside wears much faster than the outside, and if you lower your car, it exacerbates the problem

The Bridgestones that came on my 2012 touring/sport have the outside groove shallower than the rest. It has been like that since I bought it. Alignment is dead on, it is the tire design I think. I noticed this when I went to my first track day. I wondered how much tread if would burn off at Road Atlanta on the weekend. I don't remember how much I scrubbed off. The depth of the groove was about 2/32 less than the rest

Uneven Rear Tire Ware
So here is what happened:
The alignment showed the toe was off on both front tires and the camber was off on the left rear. Live and learn. Annual alignment is going to be a must do. Nissan price matched the cost for two Potenza RE050A 275/35/R19 96W tires. Their price $430 ea. matched price $343 ea. When I went to pick up the car there was a tone of excess grease all over the rear rims. They said this was necessary to get the tire on the rim. The LR and the LF rims were also newly chipped. Nissan is having their rim refinisher come in to repair the rims tomorrow. I can't believe they were so sloppy. Any feedback on this type of rim repair? |

For next time, never buy tires from the dealer, their margin is REALLY high. And if you don't plan on doing a bunch of suspension mods. Get a lifetime alignment from Firestone, god knows what the price is now, but you can talk them down $20

Glad I found this thread. I have found that I have what seems to be excess wear on the outside of both rear tires after about 12000 miles on my 2013.
I'm curious if it's the "new" suspension configuration for the 2013 refresh (I bought mine new almost a year ago) that's making it wear like this. My 40th wore evenly (but moderately quickly) on the inside and I attributed that as normal due to camber configuration. I think I will visit Nissan and have them verify the alignment is to factory spec and make adjustments from there. They are wearing like the toe is off on both rear wheels. |

I have the same car same year same issue, I have the car lowered on Swift Springs, that helped a little. You are probably running low tire pressure, up the pressure, that helps a little more. Adding a front and rear sway bar from Stillen, that will help as well.
But as said earlier, camber kits fix the problem, only that you need to set the camber based on your driving style |

LOL. I thought I was tripping when I was reviewing my rear tires and by god I could have sworn the outside ( not inside ) were shallower treads. So you confirm this is how they are, well, they are the same on my 2014 sport tires too. I am guessing and could be wrong, they made the inner part of the tire thicker to counteract for the normal inner tire wear pattern that these cars get. |
