1 tire size combo to rule them all - what is it?!
I've been scouring different threads for 3 days now and can't find what I'm looking for so here goes.
I'm in drastic need of new rear tires. Car has 11k on it and the rears are toast, front look great with about 50% life still. Due to current economic factors I'll be replacing just the rears but will get new fronts in another month prior to my next track day. So, my question is for maximum performance (I don't care about speedo inaccuracy) what tire size combination will yield the best results on the Sport Package wheels? Here's what I'm considering and debating between: 265 x 285 / 265 x 305 / or 275 x 305 **Let's not turn this into a tire brand discussion, I'm already set on getting RE-11s.**

I will chime in....and say that the wider the tire the better grip you are going to get. Since you are sticking with one brand of tire you should also consider what aspect ratio you are going to want to run. I think stock the car has awesome grip with the 11's. I personally don't track the car so I went with a little harder compound to get a little more mileage.

^yes, more grip theoretically.
You'll have more sidewall flex and... I don't know how to describe it, but it will be more flappy? Because the wheel isn't designed for 305's

I hate to say it, but you will probably come back with a my car drifts everywhere on the highway thread if you replace the rears with RE-11 only. It works, but your car is going to flip out.

It will only be like that for about 3 weeks and I hardly drive my car. So I'm not worried.
Any advice/experiences with the above mentioned size combinations? I like the idea of 305s but if the rim is too narrow to really get all the performance from the rubber then it's pointless.

i considered 305's as well, but in all honesty for me, it wasnt worth the price increase, added weight (negligible i know..but every pound counts?) or perceived performance benefits - most of the things i read concluded wider isnt always better
