East Coast: what tires you use?
After months of waiting, Continental confirmed that "the DWS06+ will be available by mid to late December". I can't wait for additional more months. I just wanted to know what you guys are using because I'm debating between Michelin Pilot Sport a/s 4 and Vredestein Quatrac Pro a/s.
Based on Tire Rack ratings my Continental seems better on light snow than the Michelin (I don't do deep snow for my Z), and the Continental thread wear is better than the Vredestein. And when I start reading reviews I'm back to undecided. So for those of you in the east coast with occasional light snow, what do you have on your Z if you're a daily driver? |

I'm currently on Toyo Proxes Sport. The feel is similar to the Michelin's IMO, but can't really comment on longevity, as I only drive my car maybe 5 miles every two weeks for the past 2 years.

I think you are referring to Pilot Sports 4. The Pilot Sport A/S 4 is top dog for Michelin’s all season products, 540 UTQG

No sir, it was the A/S 4 that I had. I specifically remember looking at the type of Michelin's I had at the time just so I could avoid them and thinking to myself "A/S....more like Absolute Sh!t" This is based on my personal experience of course, but those tires just did not last for me compared to some of the other tires I had on a Z.

Personally I'd recommend getting a winter set of wheels/tires. All season tires are good enough for your average car on the road. All seasons are going to be better then a summer tire in winter / better then a winter tire in summer; but worse then a summer tire for 3/4 of the year and worse then a winter tire for the other 1/4. Which is why I call them No Season tires.
I got myself a cheap set of base wheels and threw on a proper set of winter/snow tires (Michelin X-ICE). That being said, if you must the Michelin A/S 4s are the best choice from what I heard first hand, no personal experience. No matter what tire you end up going with, heavy rain, slush, snow, or ice you need to drive SLOW and keep a good following distance. Even the narrow tires are much wider then a normal cars and just perform worse in bad weather. Note: Wife has A/S 3 on her Z, just went out there to check tread depth…I’m a little shocked, and ashamed. I have DWS06 on the family G, but I only run it during winter months in Texas, so I don’t have enough miles to comment on longevity.

As I mentioned before, Michelin were solid tires and performance was much better compared to some of the other brands I used, but just didn't last nearly as long for me. Quote:
