Tire Size for OEM Wheels

Hello Everyone,

I looked through the web and I wasn't able to find the answer I am looking for or pictures of the setup. I'm reaching out to the members of this forum for some insight before making a purchase.

I have a 2012 370z Base Coupe. The OEM wheel/tire is 225/50r18x8 (front) and 245/45r18x9 (rear). Stock Suspension.

I have upsized the tires to 245/45r18x8 front and 275/40r18x9 rear. I have no rubbing, speedometer, or VDC issues with this size. (Current tire FireHawk Indy 500)

However, it's time for new tires and I'm trying to decide what option is best for street performance dry/wet without compromising fitment, VDC issues, or revs per mile.

What are your opinions if I chose to stay with 245/45 fronts and change the rear to 265/45? Will this rear tire size create problems in terms of revs/mile or acceleration? The reason I am moving from 275/40 in the rear to 265/45 is in hopes of closing the gap between the top of the tire and the fender well and match the front tire sidewall.

Please post pictures if you have this setup or chime in if you have some insight, I would greatly appreciate it.

27” is pretty dead on with speedometer; a 45-series on the rear is gonna look slim...
245/45,275/40’s are great fit & performance.
Going an inch taller than stock on tires will only close gap by 1/2”...may want to consider lowering.

@jchammond I'm undecided on tires. But, I am looking at Toyo Proxes Sport A/S for $674 total on America's Tire Co.

Yes, I did see that 27” is pretty dead on with the speedometer; currently, I'm at 26.7in diameter for both front and back. You think 265/45 will look slim though? It seems really close, but I'm no tire expert I could be interpreting the information wrong.

Diameter - 26.7

265/45
width - 10.4
Diameter - 27.4

Or what if I ditched the 265/45 and went with 285/40 on an 18x9in wheel.

I’d almost try 255/45,285/40’s....pending availability of those sizes.
As they should be 27”

Hey Bud,

Thanks for the help. I just decided not to experiment. No need to get bigger tires and add on the extra weight. In fact, General Tire Gmax RS is the lightest tire out there according to my research. 245/45r18 weigh 23lbs and 275/40r18 weigh 25.8 lbs. Significantly lighter than the current UHP tires I have now by 18 lbs total. I will save 8 lbs upfront and 10 lbs in the back with the general gmax RS tires.
