Default New Achilles ATR Sport 2 Delaminating After Donuts in the Rain

Hi everyone

I'm running ATR Sport 2's on my back tires because I want to learn to drift. I've had them on for about 6000 miles. The other night after it had been raining all day I decided it's a good time to go do some "spirited driving" and afterward throw some fuel stabilizer in since I'm sorta storing the 370z for the winter. The next day I notice the right back tire is leaking air.

So I have to take it for an oil change for the winter and we get it on the lift and I notice the LEFT back tire has delaminated and about half of the tread is missing. I also didn't find any nails in the back right tire.

I bought these tires recently at walmart and they had a recent manufacture date. I also haven't done any serious burnouts in them and there is tons of tread left.

Has anyone had similar issues with Achilles tires? Do you think I could claim some sort of warranty?

Achilles are extremely cheap tires. You get what you pay for, so this doesn't surprise me in the least. But I would definitely attempt to warranty them. Don't mention the donuts...

I had Achilles tires on my 350Z once way back when I first got outta college. Aside from the very pronounced road noises, stability on those tires were questionable, which technically could make them good practice throw-away tires I suppose. In fact, I do recall a few times when I would almost WOT and could feel the tire losing grip and the rear feeling like it was going to give out. They don’t last for sh*t and they are not that much cheaper than some of the other brand names.

This is not uncommon for a Chinese knock off tire. Get something else before you hurt yourself.

If you're just using them to practice drifting then warranty them and replace them. You don't need anything fancy or expensive for the time being.

Cheap Indonesian Tires. Their fine for crossovers and simple A to B drives but nothing more.

I have them in 275/35 on my stock wheels. The same week I got them they started to flake off the outer tread blocks. I knew they were 420 tw but they were like driving on ice. I am not sure if I am giving them a fair review since I am comparing them to my new staggered setup (285 front 325 rear) on 300tw Coopers, I can take roundabouts with SO much more confidence.
