Default is it ok for 2012 stock yokohama tire to crack ??? with 11k miles

just bought new wheel and new set of tires so have to get rid of the stock 18.

today when i brought them to tire shop to dismount tire and wheel, the shop told me the tire is no good in rear, there is long crack line in rear tire, not much in front but crack line too. they said it may be due to the weather, not because you drive it alot or not

question : is it ok for this to be happen ? what should i do? throw it away or is it possible to file a claim with yokohama for replacement?

it has 11k miles on the odometer and has been like 4 years since 2012, these tire are not cheap

ps: iam just drive normally, not abusing at all.

Has car been out in snow/icy weather ........ OEM tyres are not all-season and extreme cold is one reason to rubber cracking.

Alternative has car been left for some time (months) with tyres flat or with < 15psi inflation pressure ?

Both are reasons for rubber cracking

You should buy new tires. 5 is the max for tires, so you're about there

My base Yoko's developed cracks in the tread area (down in the grooves) around 20k,,,tires were 3yrs.old...I watched them for another 5k & then they got replaced...
I got Z w/9,000 miles on 6/13'-car was built 11/10' / so there was some sitting time on this one also.
looking back at record's...Replaced 3/14'-just over 3yrs.old: i can't remember date code that was on tires/they were probably closer to 4.

Date code example (3112) 31st week of 2012 was when this tire was built.

I always ask or look for build date code....new tires could have been sitting for years before being sold...5 years is probably safe, if tires have been exposed to sun/UV it shortens their life..

Bought my car new, it was a left over, a year and a half, old 18mi.on it.
I had pulled off the tires to install my splash guards ( about 1800 mi. ) and all 4 tires were cracked! Yokohama replaced all 4.

They're old. Rubber degrades with time, and they could have been sitting for a year or two before they went on your car. I wouldn't sell them to anybody. Yokohama's not going to do anything.

To reiterate a few things...

18K is pretty good for summer tires on a RWD car.

4 years old is pretty old.

Driving on summer tires in the cold can cause cracks, even on a new tires.

Yokohama isn't going to do anything for you.

You need to buy new tires.

Good luck!
