Default TPMS Suggestion?

Hey guys,

So in July of this year, I purchased some Michelin PSS for all of my tires on my car. I love them, except I blew out the passenger's rear tire hitting a curb while doing a u-turn which sucks . Anyways, I replaced both rears with different tires and now my TPMS flashes for a minute and then stays illuminated while driving. I bought one of those tire gauges because I know the gas station one's aren't that accurate. All of my tires measure 35 PSI in cold weather so I know they aren't low.

I read the manual and it says to go to the Nissan dealership ASAP which I did.

I went to the stealership and they were trying to charge me $250 for each sensor and 2 hours of labor which comes out to $90/hour . I think that is a ridiculous amount of money to spend. I know the front two tires are fine since I never had this problem until my tire blew.

My question is what are my options? Do you think I just need to reset the TPMS? Or do I need to buy 2 sensors for the rears and then reset? I saw on Nissan Courtesy that they go for $70.63 instead of the dealership price of $250 each. Are there other places I can go instead of the Nissan stealership?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I'd check with a tire shop. Good chance they can program on generic ones.

Awesome, I'll start asking around tire shops to see how much they'll charge. I hope I just need the reset and not need to buy new sensors. Thank you!

I just purchased a set from GetYourWheels (vendor) for $190/shipped. Would definitely recommend them.

Check with Discount Tire. They reset my sensors twice a year when I swap summer\winter wheels and never charge me. They should be able to tell you if they need to be replaced or reset.

yah, wat 90ST said. your local tire store carries TPMS and they can pair? bind? sync? it to your car for you.

as for doing the low psi driving to reset the TPMS by yourself can damage the sidewalls of ur tires. i dont recommend it.

another approach ive done is cut a round piece of e-tape and place it over the TPMS light.

works great. i have to look for it to notice it. in a general sense, i hate TPMS. and i can tell just by driving which tire is low on air with these performance tires.

I have two tire pressure monitoring system sensors for a 370Z that have only been used for 100 miles. I'll take 90 shipped for both of them and they are literally new

When you mean vendor, are you talking about an the370z.com vendor? I looked up their website but didn't see anything about TPMS.

Thanks Silly Rabbit! I gave them a call, (I guess they're called America's Tires where I'm located) and they will reset the TPMS for free but if a sensor is broken, they said it'll be $60 per sensor which is WAY cheaper than the Nissan stealership. I'm hoping the worst case scenario, if I do need to change a sensor, will be the one rear one which tire blew.

The only thing is that I have major OCD so it'll bother me until I resolve the problem LOL. But I do agree with you on the TPMS.

Yes, they're a forum vendor. I didn't check to see whether or not the TPMS were on their site, I just PM'd them.
