I went in to get some work done and the tech mentioned to me that I have weather cracking in my tires. Is this something that makes the tire unsafe

It's not safe, but you should be ok with normal driving.

Your tires are probably old, or were stored shitty

Nothing immediate but should for sure be taken care of, any sign of cracking in tires is never good and can lead to more issues...

Thanks guys, pilot super sports now ordered. What kind of storage issue would lead to this? In standing water?

Wink

Sun, ozone, and age are the biggest factors. It's recommended that tires older then 5 years be replaced. Try replacing 6 tires on a Class A motorhome. That's a $4,000 tire bill.

WOW those must be some old tires. you need to start driving more, if you have the same set of tires for more then 2 years on a Z your not driving enough.

Yeah that's probably true. They're the OEM Advan's that've been on there since 2011 when the car was new. I bought the car with 19k on the clock and have put another 8k on in the past year or so but I think it sat around a lot more before I bought it.
