Question Cat Monitor Not Supported

So...I've been tuned by EcuTek for the past 3 years and today, I ran into my first dilemma. In 2017, I tool my car to Dynosty and had Hal tune my 40th Anniversary with my bolt-ons. The car ran so much better, and I am so glad that I had it tuned.

Fast-forward to today. I live in a county in Ohio that has a requirement to have the car pass an E-Check in order to renew my plates. I had to have this done in 2018, and all was perfect. When I went today, the screen flashed "Cat Monitor Not Supported" and the car failed. The tech showed me his screen where the cat monitors were turned off and asked if I had a tune. I said yes, and he suggested that I need to have the original, factory map reinstalled. So, my questions is: Why did it pass in 2018 and not now? Is Ohio monitoring more parameters, or did I not go through a proper drive cycle?

Lastly, has anyone used a EcuTek programmer from another vehicle (my friend has one for his GT-R). Once I get my factory map back, would his ECU kit work to get the factory map back into the Z?

Thanks for any information to help me figure out what the next step is...

If you hadn't made enough drive cycles, the system would report it as not ready; not that the system was disabled. You can check using an OBD reader.

My guess is that your system has been disabled (via tune) and the previous check was done by a shop/employee that didn't check everything.

Assuming you haven't touched anything related to the ECU or disconnected the battery in the last 50-100 miles. The mostly likely thing is they just didn't bother to do the test in 2018. Not sure how ECUteck works but probably just need to change the settings to re enable this sensor.

Contact Dynosty and have them check your tune file.

OP,

I literally just had this same issue with emissions. You have to call dynosty, tell them you had a tune and need to pass emmissions. Hal will email you a file that has all monitors turned on and then you upload it to the car with the ecutek cable. I am not sure if you have to buy your own individual cable though so you should ask about that. Also, once you flash the car you will need to drive the car to set the ECU readiness. There is a readiness monitor in the ecutek software that will let you see when the systems are ready. I let the car initially warm up to about 180-190F then drove 10 min on the highway going 55 mph (sets cat readiness) then you need to do a bunch of stop and go driving ex. driving 30mph for 2 min and coming to a complete stop multiple times. It seems like a hassle but from uploading the factory tune to setting ECU readiness it took maybe an hour.

Hope this helps

Update:

I passed emissions today after reflashing the car to stock and setting readiness.
