Bought a car with uprev.. any maps on it?
Hi guys i recently bought a 370z. Thread here if anyone is interested Torn between which Z to buy tomorrow. Advice appreciated.
Anyway, i opened the glove box and i found the uprev box with the cables inside. I watched some youtube videos on how to change maps and i want to attempt to see if there are any maps loaded on the car. From what i understand in the video is i hold down the deceleration and press cancel to the number of the map i want...(1 cancel for map 1, 2 cancels for map 2, etc...) and the cruise control light should blink. My question is, by doing this will it work in my case? if so how do i know there are actually a map loaded and its actually changing? will the light not blink if there is no loaded map? Edit: also is that all uprev is? just the cables? i was under the impression it might of been a chip of some sort, sorry if that sounded really stupid lol Last edited by Asus_; 11-05-2017 at 02:37 AM. |

The only way to figure out what the tunes are that are currently on the ECU is to contact the previous owner. All Z's with cruise control have 5 maps. You can switch between them using the cruise control buttons and that will verify that there is a tune on the ECU; but there's no way to find out how it was tuned.

Correct.
To change maps you use the cruise control buttons: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXY3WGF6huE Hold down set and press cancel for the number of map you want, then release it. Note the light on the dash blinks the number of times of the map you set. As long as the cruise light blinks in that manner it verifies that there is a tune on there. You just won't know what kind of tune it is. Typically your main tuned performance map is set as #1 so I would just make sure you go back to that map when you're done. There may be various rev/ speed limited maps, or an anti theft map in there (won't run). A local Uprev tuner will tell you basically the same thing... No way to see how its tuned just from the software. Since you have the cable and license you might consider retuning it (can be done remotely with datalogs for $150) so you can have everything set up how you want it and also the peace of mind. Also you can add the ARC license upgrade ($100) for flat foot shifting, launch control, rolling anti lag, burnout mod. |
