What's the reason for adjusting fan temp?

And I notice the cooling fan comes on a lot more often now. I know the tuner made adjustment so it turns on sooner. Now the temperature gauge reads about 180 degrees on average. Is this adjustment really necessary? I'm asking because the fan is pretty loud, i can hear it from inside with windows up. It's pretty much on all the time except first starting up driving. __________________ My black Z build
