Default My Topspeed and Robtuned Experience

Like many of you, I went back and forth between deciding if I wanted to go with UpRev or EcuTek with my vehicle. This was my last ditch effort to wake the 370Z up and turn it into something that excites me to drive, or in all honesty I was likely going to sell the parts i'd purchased along with the car and go to another platform. I'd very quietly purchased a Fast Intentions cat back with 18" resonators, Stillen G3 intake and Fast Intentions resonated test pipes and stacked them in some deep, dark corner of my garage.

I'd been speaking with a few local Z owners about a tuner and all of the DE guys here basically swear by Z1, and I see why. My experience with Z1 has been stellar and I'm looking forward to growing my relationship with with them. I'd also been talking to Rob at Robtuned about getting a tune. Rob and I have many, many mutual friends as he attended Auburn University along with dozens of my friends. We spoke about the differences between UpRev and Ecutek and ultimately I decided that Ecutek was the route I wanted to go.

By nature I am a very "efficient" person. Meaning that I make decisions easily and very quickly. I don't need to deliberate for hours or days on things. I don't consider it a pro or a con, it's just the way I'm wired. I decided to get my car tuned by Rob @ Topspeed on their dyno on Wednesday afternoon shortly after 12pm, but one major problem was that everything I'd purchased for the car was still in that deep dark corner of my garage... Rob and I set up an appointment to be strapped on the dyno at Topspeed at 11:00am EST on Thursday morning, so I had until then to get everything in stalled. Luckily, a local shop stepped up to the challenge and got everything done between 2-6pm. I picked up the car at around 10pm that night and made the 3 hour drive over to Alpharetta. I'd explained to Rob that I was on a very tight schedule because I had to be back in Birmingham by 3pm to get to the airport, and I really had my doubts if i'd make it.

I showed up at the Topspeed at about 9am and met with the guys there. We talked shop and I got to see all the GTRs they're building for Texas 2k (there were damn near 20 of them in the shop). Despite our appointment being for 11, Rob showed up at 10 knowing my timeline and got directly to work. After a few hours on the dyno we went from a baseline of 302 to 325/260tq. I'm VERY happy with the car and love the way it performs right now. The car finally has an attitude of it's own and is an absolute blast to drive. I wanted to post this to give a big shout out to both Rob and all the guys at Topspeed for the hospitality and hustling to get this done in a very, very short window of time with absolutely no sacrifice in service. If you're in this part of the country and you're looking for a tuner, I think Rob is certainly one of the best Master EcuTek tuners out there. He also offers remote tuning, too!

A few pics - (I'll post pics of the graph as soon as I can get it scanned)

I've already made my appointment with him to do my ECUTEK tune!

What do you mean? Is there a governor as far as speed? No there isn't. Also I have a hard rev limiter now.

No JD's doesn't have one. I know he's been up to 160. I assume mine doesn't as well I've just never taken it that high.

Oh and for the record, JD owns the blue 370 in the pic and I had mine tuned by Rob a few days before he had his tuned.
