UpRev Tuning - USB interface question
Hello,
So I just got my Z about a month ago, and it was UpRev tuned by Kaizen in Massachusetts. Now the problem is I have no idea what Tuning maps are set up for 1-5 when I flip through using the cruise control buttons. Honestly that scares me a bit since I'm running a supercharger and need to make sure I'm on a good map. Now my question is, can I just buy the interface cable from UpRev since I have a preexisting license ? Or do I have to buy the standard/tuner package to interface with my current tune ? I've tried reaching out to both Kaizen and UpRev with inconclusive results. Searched through a lot of threads but nobody seemed to have this same situation. Thanks !

From what i've heard about UpRev...
the License is part of the UpRev cable... so if you have said cable, you should have a license too. Or i could be totally wrong, but that's what i remember seeing.

if my memory serves me right you'll have to purchase an Uprev Cable with Tuner capability so that you can view and edit the maps. the Osiris cable will not allow you to view or open the maps so you won't be able to see what you want to see. but you'll still be able to dump the rom and maybe uprev can tell you what each map is for.

oh and there is no way to go and see what maps are set up as they are now. You need to flash back to stock and then retune

I personally don't plan to tune it myself, and the problem is the only "local" UpRev tuner (2 hour trip) has gotten some pretty negative reviews here on this forum, and I don't feel comfortable doing that. Was planning on having someone reputable do an e-tune, I think it's called? I can rent time on a dyno to get pulls and send logs or however people do it... Quote:

Unfortunately the only people who can tell you exactly what maps are on the ECU is the original tuner who tuned it. Regardless of how long its been they should have the original tuned rom file, so even if they don't remember its as simple as opening the file and taking a look.
If you want to be able to reflash it yourself you will need to purchase the interface cable, but you do NOT need to purchase a license, so that will save you some money. With the basic interface cable you will be able to reflash the ECU and datalog, but since you're boosted you're pretty much out of luck with etuning. No protuners that I know of will tune forced induction remotely. If you want to be able to tune it yourself or have someone else tune it locally you will need the tuner version (tuner add on since you have the license already), and you will have to start from scratch with the tune. No way to modify the tune that's currently on the ECU without getting ahold of the original tuned rom from the original tuner. Feel free to PM me directly if you have any questions about how it all works.. |

Shame to hear I won't be able to get another tune due to being boosted but I'm not surprised.. Makes sense, there is just too much that can go wrong with FI to tune it remotely. Maybe I'll try getting in touch with Kaizen again and speaking with someone else to see if they can poke around and find the old maps. If all else fails, ECUtek is always an option. Seems there are 2 standard tuners and 1 master ecutek tuner semi-local to me
