UPREV/ Baily's Hyperformance (BH Factory) - My Review
[IMG][/IMG]]I'd like to first start out by saying I reached out to a few tuning companies in the Dallas area as I'm from Little Rock, Ar and didn't want to make too far of a drive.
I contacted a few shops but landed with BH Performance (Performance Shop Dallas/Fort Worth) I was a little skeptical, because 1) no one on here had gone to them. 2) when scrolling through their site, I was seeing nothing but v8's vettes, camaros, cts-v, etc) I wasn't sure if they were going to be knowledgeable with our motors, I had seen them doing v8 ls swaps into a g35 and things. But I decided to pull the trigger and do it anyways! I emailed to setup an appointment and ask a few general questions, they had great customer service and was very friendly and knowledgeable through emails/phone calls. Here we go: So I setup an appointment 1 week out. I drove the 350 mile trip down there. Upon arrival, I was greeted by 2 guys who both knew who and exactly why I was there just by seeing my car when I pulled up. They loaded my car right up on the dyno and did a base line run. The tuner (Seth) had actually had a bad virus on his computer and was being fixed. (not his problem) and was not an issue. While doing my baseline he told me it'd be less than 1/2 an hour before his laptop would be back, I was hungry and they recommended a few local places within walking distance while we waited for the computer guy to bring Seth's laptop back. I wasn't gone even half an hour and he had already begun tuning when I came back (he made 20hp over our baseline) just by the time I got back from eating. I was always interested in tuning and wanted to kinda be learned on it, so I asked him simple questions and he explained simply and in detail everything he was doing and what all could be done via uprev, I could swore he was an uprev tune creator himself. Seth was very knowledgeable and super nice to both me and my girlfriend. He set me up 5 different maps. We didn't do just normal tune maps either he made custom maps. 1. Race Map - 93 octane - 7700rpm rev limit - cooling fans on sooner - minimal tweaks to the transmission shifting, seems more responsive 2. Economy map - he tweaked with a/f ratios to make the motor a little more eco friendly for daily commute to work and such, he also protected the car by setting a speed limit to insure I wouldn't over run the motor in eco mode, it def has less power but uses less fuel (for example, got about 27.5-28mpg in cruise control there / was getting 31.5-32 miles per gallon on the drive home) I've personally never seen any type of 30's for mpg's since tune. 3. race map - c12/93 mix fuel - all the same specs as above - but did timing advancing for the different gas and ran a tad rich in the upper rpms for future nitrous plans. 4. valet map - 3,000 rpm / 35 mph limit 5. anti theft map He did a very good job. Total time was about 2.5-3 hours including the time it took the computer tech to fix his computer and bring it to him , himself it only took about 2 hours for him to do about 10 runs and tune it. We ended up making 23hp over stock with the following mods (AAM test pipes (non res) / greddy evo3 cat back exhaust / nst alt&crank pulley kit / takeda stage II intake) I was very impressed with the difference in power I chirp between gears with ease now without even trying it seems to raise rpms quicker and has more power in the mid range. The butt dyno never lies as you all know, but dyno def never lies and I was very happy with the numbers. I'm not sure if their dyno reads low but it was 275 baseline and made right at 299 after tuning with normal 93 and made a couple more hp using c12/93 mix. When home I ran on a local dyno and made 323.5 and 320.9 and 319.8 on their dynojet. So I'm very happy with the true numbers and the butt dyno. I'd def recommend these guys to anyone who wanted an ls swap AND tuning or install on our 3.7 motors. I had to share these guys talent and knowledge and kindness. The shop itself is also very clean, full of car parts, wheels, and was surrounded by exotic cars. 5 out of 5 - Knowledge 5 out of 5 - Customer Service I'd give them 100% on any thing I was asked. I don't have enough good things to say about them. Thanks guys for letting me share my experience with them. Baily's hyperformance factory 1200 S. Yes now I'm averaging about 33-34 mpg's on my daily driving Eco map. I guess it took a couple days to run the c12/93 mix out completely and when it did I noticed I squeezed out a few more mpg's!! Thanks man!
