Default O2 Sensor Damage from cones, anyone else?

So during autocross today I took a hard cone hit right in the center of the front bumper. As the cone went under the car it ripped off the small plastic panel attached to the undershround and more importantly screwed up my primary O2 sensors (I have LTH's so the sensors are closer to the bottom of the car). Haven't had a chance yet to get under the car to determine if it's just the wiring or if it's actually the sensors.

Just wondering if anyone else has had an issue with this?

Hasn't happened to me yet but my car is pretty low so I think it would fubar my bumper and under tray before going that far back. You should fab a shroud for it, the vent section at Home Depot should have something that could work.

Wink

I too have LTH's. I ran over a road killed critter not long ago. It broke the plastic plug on the wiring harness for the one O2 plug. I put the plugs back together, and taped it up. Still working with no problems.

You know you're supposed to go around the cones, right?

That was the original plan.

Are you talking about the secondary ones, the rearmost ones? Those are the ones that are hanging dangerously low. I've had a cone yank on the wire and pull it out of it's little loom, but so far the sensor still works

Actually, now that I think about it -- if my car doesn't have to be street legal anymore, I can just remove those rearmost ones and plug the holes and block the SES for them, right? Aren't they just emissions?

I have F.I. long tube headers. The primary O2 sensors are relocated right next to the downstream sensors. So all four are sensors are now in the dangerously low area.

Finally got it running again today. All said in done I had to replace both primary O2 sensors and the fuse for the O2 heater circuits. Ended up using aeroquip firesleeve in lieu of polyloom for added protection.
