This will be my first time taking her to the track, its the inside autocross course not the full track. I'm heading there with my friends viper club. Anyone race there before? any info would be great, what to expect, how to prepare etc

Keep an open mind, ask questions, and listen to what others have to said. Take notes. Check the Z over. Fluid leaks, air pressure, brake fluid, oil, coolant levels, etc. And enjoy yourself. Take a camera with you. Pictures sometimes help more then notes.

Best advice is to make as much use of the available instruction as possible. Listen to what they are telling you and try to act on it each time through. The first time is information overload so just relax, have fun and learn. Don't worry, your car wont break.

I've gone to two autocross events in the last few weeks and I had a blast with my Z. What I would say is if you're not used to the car on a track yet be easy with your inputs (the Z has plenty o' torque in 2nd gear which you will be in the whole time), use your instructors, start slow and build up speed each run. You may not feel 100% comfortable towards the end of the event but I'm sure you'll improve and you'll have just as much fun as I did!

thanks, had a ball!
Yes thank you for the input. I had an absolute ball! it was a lot of info overload when you get there, little nerve wracking. After a lap with the instructor and with a friend, i was better every lap. The instructor said i had a great line and was hitting the apexes well (all those years of video games helped i guess).
I was leery of how bad you beat up the car going there. And while you do beat on it, you don't beat the crap out of it. And once you see everyone's times, you really don't care anymore, your testosterone just wants you to win! http://www.the370z.com/images/smilies/eekdance.gif i went on a hot lap with the instructor in his viper, that was pretty impressive |
