Default Fi g37

First - I have always been kicking around FI but not willing to commit $$$. Anyways followed this Turbo G37 earlier in the day. He said ~500 rwhp- unfortunately he did not last both days- left 5 qts oil all over the track

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peDJNn5bUko

Note - you can see my FUEL STARVATION coming out of turn 7 (Toe) - RPM blips down and you can hear engine die for a second- I was OVER 3/4 Tank (2 dots down) Again I suck it up as do not do this enough to invest $$$ in fix

Below is the easy-dry trail left by G37

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzyoG2cKy_8

He was pretty pissed so did not go over to junk car tow pit to discuss

So you have no clue what the exact damage was to the OP's car? Oil line or did he throw a rod? How long he has been boosted?

He has been boosted 3 or 4 years now. Dedicated track car. No I have no idea what failed- car behind him said lot of smoke coming out exhaust just prior to dumping oil on track.
I am sure he will repair and be back soon - if I find out some details on cause and fail I will post here

Okay. So being boosted for 3 or 4 years that's pretty good for his motor just letting go now on a track car. I like the sound of that.
O&G likes this.

That G37 driver doesn't look like he has much experience so I doubt he has a lot of track miles.

I'd guess an oil line broke loose.

Hopefully didn't cause any other failures.

I kept thinking the same. But really couldn't tell from the rear in the vid. Which is funny caused I owned a G37.

sounds like a bit more than an oil line! Regardless, 3-4 years on a stock block is great for a VQ.

the taillights are different. BTW, being a former g37 owner, what is your opinion on switching from a g37 to 370z for DD and track?

The G37 is more comfortable smoother feeling car. But lacks the spirit. Not sure how to explain it, it just does. It's heavier too. I just like more stripped down basic cars that are meant to be modified. I totaled my boosted 350 and relaxed it with the G37. It didn't have the same feel. Maybe I was still heart broken at that time. The 370 is real superior in overall feel.

The Z has a single CF drive shaft, pretty sure the 35 & 37 have a 2 piece non CF drive shaft.

ok thanks. I've an itch to switch to a Z even though I felt same in both the cars.
