Default fuel pump

The previous owner cut the fuel tank in half, so there is only the passenger
side fuel pump. I took it out today and noticed on the side of the pump there
is a connector for a hose. There is no hose attached or loose in the tank.
Is this the fuel pick up, or is it just related to the now non-existant driver side
fuel pump?

There should be a hose attached to it that goes to the other side of the tank.

Yup. That was where the venturi suction hose connected, for recovering fuel that was on the driver side of the tank. If you wanted, you could put a hose on there and run it somewhere else, such as the far back or front of your tank, just to help scavenge fuel into the basket when its sloshing around. I know you wont have starvation much with the tank cut in half, but the option is there if you feel like using it.
