Coilovers for Track and Autocross
So the car is basically just for autocross and track, although I do drive it to the track most of the time. I've accepted I wont have suspension this year so now I just need to decide what to get.
I run in STU (autocross) and T3 (Time Trials). I require coilovers that keep the spring in the stock location (keep in mind this changes the spring rate dramatically over a true type rear coilover). What I'm looking for; Double adjustable Rebuildable/Revalvable Digressive valving Front spring rate of about 1008 lbs/in (18KG) Rear spring rate 896 lb/in (16KG) (again in stock location so about half that at the wheel) Inboard spring mount, prefer some easily adjusted Trying to keep it under $5k all in. What I'm considering, MCS and Penske are a bit spendy. BC now has double (ER) and triple (ZR)adjustables. Their double adjustable ER has available digressive valving, rears default rate is pretty close to where I want to be, fronts are way soft. should be able to have them built to suit at a cost. ZR's are a bit pricey before they start wiht the upcharges, might as well, go to one of the big names. and I'd pretty much be on my own for rear spring mounting. Redshift doesn't yet offer support for the Z34, which is weird since they support the Z33. MCS or penske, hence the name. Feal is about the same money as MCS or penske. History: I tried initially ordering Penske from Strano (awesome guy but he just doesn't know the chassis). Agreed to cancel order so I could order from someone who knows the chassis better. Discovered Diftech sold not just awesome rear spring mount but they could build the penske's and they know the chassis (Doug is a very knowledgeable guy, but flakey). After two months and no finite shipping time frame, he agreed to refund my purchase (on the 60th day, last day I would be able to dispute the change on my card) and let me know when they get the needed parts (haven't heard anything since). Thoughts? |

Seems like he still had it as of EOY 2019. Try to contact him.

You are looking to satisfy two totally different beast as far as auto cross vs time trials. I would decide which you want to do the most and maybe even get to sets of springs to best suit both. Not sure if you have considered Fortune Auto as they are good product in my opinion.
I will consider MCS two ways when I am ready to upgrade. You should contact WRteknica. The owner is a phenomenal driver and has raced Nissan cars. Will is the go to guy for super cars in California and he is an MCS dealer. He well known for suspension tuning and my car is currently at his shop for the full meal deal on suspension tuning and mapping. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

MCS or penske as you mentioned are the ones you should go for. Look for a second hand one to save some $ and rebuild/service as needed. Not sure if JRZ is in your price range but they work well enough for me. Ease of serviceability should be your deciding factor for those options.

At your budget, MCS fits in perfectly (probably Penske too, but I haven't had experience with them). I got my 2WNR second hand, enough of a discount to cover a couple of rebuild.

AST is also another solid option.
For rear spring mounts, you can always get SPL mid-links and replace the sphericals with poly bushed rod ends.

i just got mcs 2 ways. I ordered 1 ways and mcs built 2 way by mistake lol. Even the 1 ways are the way to go. only thing that might throw you over budget are spl mid links.
