Brake Temps at the track
What are folks getting for brake temps at the track, and how does that translate to fluid temps?
I've been fighting high brake temps at the track for my last few events. The latest has been installing the Stillen brake duct kit. So currently I'm running Castrol SRF fluid, Project Mu HC800 pads, Z1 2 piece rotors, and the brake duct kit. This is with the sport pack's akebonos. Last of 3 sessions got up to 850F measuring the swept section of the rotor, and had my brakes smoking plus calipers leaking fluid from the bleeders. The pedal still felt consistent, although had a bit more travel, and I didn't feel much brake fade. What other steps have you taken to cool brakes?

Hard Brakes Ti heat shield shims between the front pads and pistons.
https://hardbrakes.com/index.php?mai...roducts_id=106 Might have to go to a larger 3" cooling hose. You are not the only one to have the bleeder screws leak fluid when the Akebono's get hot.

At least your pedal hasn’t gone soft yet like mine has at Carolina Motorsports Park. Not enough straights to cool them down.

I got the .5mm shims. Because the thickness of pads are not the same from manufacturer to manufacturer. The 1.mm might fit one set of pads, and not a set of someone else. If you plan to stick with one set of pads. The try the 1.mm shim.

BTW, I notice you plus most folks run XP10/8 staggered pads. Do XP10's all around cause too much instability/ice mode?

I run APR ducts, Stillen brake and tire brake shields. I'm not sure what thickness any more and my rotor temps are less than half of yours with carbotech 10x8.
But I'm slow according to Rusty! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

Run the XP10/XP8 because of the brake balance. There is too much brake in the rear.
