Drag race burn out with drag radials.
I'm curious on how you serious drag racer guys do your burn out. My first ever set of drag radials (nt05r 305/35/19) are coming in on Friday and I will be heading out to the strip sometime soon. Some say softly step on the break after the clutch is all the way out while some say just stand on the gas.
I also hope learning how to fire out the hole will not be so hard. The new grip might bog me down if not enough gas and riding the clutch too long or even worst, stall out. What are you guys doing? YzGyz |

Already done the big 3 poky mounts, engine, trans, diff.
Friday is street night at the track. I guess I will just have to slap them on and try things out at a closed commercial lot or something prior to the track. These tires looks like they will really stick. YzGyz |

What works for me is to make sure that ur drag radials get good water on them on prestage burnout....Once u go over the water get to the burnout box and slightly lift the handbrake....by a couple clicks only....not all the way...for burning out choice of gear will be ur preference 1st or 2nd gear...whichever feels better for....then rev to about 4-5K and dump the clutch while flooring the gas...ur tires will.spin and heat up....once u start to feel them grab push ur clutch in to kill the power so that u just do a slight roll forward....u don't want to go too far up as u will end up cooling ur tires....then prestage at the light....and prepare to launch
As far as launching it all depends on ur track prep...u will have to feel out what RPM and method works best for u....every track is different....if u have launch control with UpRev or EcuTek it helps. ...EcuTeks launch control is a lot user friendly over UpRevs as it can be adjusted on the fly and does not require map switching....if 7 dont have these features just do it the old fashion way by revving up to 3k rpm as see how that goes....if it bogs when u launch then u need more gas if it sits and slides slightly then u need to bring ur launch rpm down... Here's a vid of a good burnout that phunk did....I believe he was on drag radials and also uses 2nd Gear to burn out....(go to about 2:00)
