Default Alternator Failures

This seems to be a common occurrence between the Grand-Am teams. As far as I know none of the "street" cars have experienced it. Can one of the pros comment on this? It it just a matter of heat? Revs? Running a different part?

No Pro, but probably just the brushes being worn at sustained high RPMS+heat. Probably fine in a DD scenario, but it could be a part that has a service life that is shorter due to the higher stress. When they core an alternator, brushes are replaced. I used to be into car stereos and when you pull a lot of power from your alternator, it has to spin faster to keep the voltage high. A few car stereo amplifiers can kill an OEM alternator in a year.

Combination of things... Mainly vibration (remeber we are reving 8750) and heat for much longer periods of time.... But mostly the vibrations.
