also leaving the cap off the resivour invites moisture into the system. what i like to do is get a piece of wood as close to the rotor width and wedge that in the caliper right when i take it off. i still have to push the pistons in though just a tad to get new pads in. but yes a full brake bleed afterwards is a good idea. using a brake bleeder makes it easy!
