Default Nascar 2014

It's incredible to me that a Formula 1 thread exists for the 2014 season, but not one for NASCAR.

The season started off right with Jr. winning Daytona, and so far I like the new rules for the cars and the Chase.

Congratulations for Jeff Gordon winning a very exciting Kansas race. It usually isn't too good. I think I am in the minority hoping that Danica will do well every week and get better in the future. Great job on finishing 7th.

What do you guys think of this season?

<- Smoke fan, Im not on here a bunch but Im a converted NASCAR fan. Loved F1 for many years but got sick of the politics and BS team orders, drove me nuts how they are told to slow down so someone else who isn't doing as well can win SMH. I got into NASCAR after moving to GA and decided to give it a shot, so I said to myself I'll watch 1 year of all the races and see if it takes, well it did. I laugh when people show their ignorance about the sport, there really is a ton of tech to it and amazing the aero games that are involved with drafting/bump drafting and fuel strategy.

About the season.......well it's a tough one for the 14 fans. Not only do I feel his leg is bothering him way more than he is letting on I also think the new unrestricted ride height rule is throwing them (and a lot of other teams incl. 48/20 teams) a major curve to sort out. Harvick seems to be on fire or his car literally is on fire, if they can hold it together and resolve some of the inconsistency he could be the next champ. Logano will fizzle, he's just not ready for it yet if ever and he's no where nearly as lucky as the blue deuce.

I agree, there is a lot of depth to the sport which is why I am hooked as well. This season in particular has a lot of parity resulting from the rule changes. It is obvious since there is pretty much a new winner every week

I came at it the opposite way; my dad used to race and he is from Indiana (smoke fan too of course) so I remember watching the Indy 500 and Daytona when I was little. It hasn't been until recent that I have been watching F1 and Indy racing regularly. Let's just say I am disappointed that they can't figure out to actually have a race with those beautiful, expensive cars.

The biggest thing that got me into NASCAR was to pick a driver. My dad liked Earnhardt, so I decided to go with Jr. the year before he went Winston Cup full time. Now I cheer with half of the fan base, but I like Edwards and Truex too. I half to pull for Gordon since my mom loves the rainbow leprechaun.

Lot's of good personalities in NASCAR....I even like some of the "bad guys".

I am predicting that either Biffle or Kyle Busch will win this week at Dover.

Big JR fan here but I did much prefer the #8 Budweiser car at DEI over the 88 National Guard/Amp car. I was happy he won Daytona this year and the two races at Pocono however I feel he got lucky on the first one that Brad was about to over heat and had to get behind Jr to clear debris but heck, a win is a win.

This last weekend I was really disappointed at Talladega, he ran so well early on but then towards the end when it counted he just seemed to not be able to find his way to the front. At least Jimmie didn't win so we don't have to sit through him winning another championship. I think Jimmie winning 6 of them in such a short amount of time really hurt the sport.

I have not been to race in some time but for a few years there I made every race at Texas and even caught the 2006 Daytona 500. I need to plan a trip to Bristol and Talladega...

Jr got his first Grandfather clock today, said he's been wanting one since he was a little boy.

Congrats to Kevin Harvick and everyone at SHR, chase turned out to be pretty good and the second half of the race today was exciting to say the least.

And now we wait, 90 days and counting until Daytona.

I think the right guy won the Championship this year for sure, although I would have liked Jr. to be the guy. Maybe next year. I do like the revamped Chase format as it added a lot of drama, tension and a few fights to the mix. As for next year I am hoping Chad Knaus moves over to Jr's team so he can enjoy some of that special "magic" that JJ has enjoyed. This is unlikely, but a guy can hope.

I am soooo glad that the nerds (Keslowski and Logano) did not win, but they are a great part of the NASCAR fun! Great season.

Well 2015 season has started, looks like a bad year to be a Busch brother.
