Need Nissan Mechanic Melbourne FL
My 2010 Z went into Limp Mode with scan codes P1092, P1091. After doing some searching, I started to fiddle and mistakenly removed the Drivers side VVEL Control Shaft Position Sensor (the sensor on the side of the ACTUATOR ASSY-VEL with 2 10mm bolts).
The dealer is stating that I have to replace the entire Part# 23745-EY04B Actuator Assy-VEL as a result of removing the sensor and entails pulling the engine to replace the Actuator Assy-VEL. They quoted me $3000 and I can’t afford it since I have 3 kids in college. I purchased the parts and wanted to know if I can do this myself without pulling the engine? My car has been sitting in the garage for 1 1/2 years and would really like to drive it again. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! Regards, Stino Cervini

Can't help you on the removal of the sensor but I can tell you for fact that you can buy a used VQ with probably less mileage than you have now and have it installed for under 3k. Call Revworks in Winter Springs and ask if they can help you out on the repair (407) 542-7863. Or try to get with Phil Massella on the Central Fla Z club facebook page. Maybe even ask Huck (admin ) since he lives over in Brevard.

My Z is fixed and running better than ever. I replaced the VEL control Module, adjusted the VEL Actuator Sensors myself with UpRev software and didn't have to part with $3200 like the Nissan dealer said I needed to.
When I took my car to Nissan and supposedly spoke to their top mechanic, he had no clue what I was talking about until I showed him in the 370Z service manual. There is absolutely no excuse for that if you are the top shop mechanic. Do yourself a favor and read the service manual; you'll know just as much as the Nissan Dealer Mechanics.
