I just use optimum no-rinse (ONR) with a microfiber mitt, dry it off with a microfiber towel. But I park indoors at home and at work so it never gets super dirty to begin with.

I used the copper stuff and it has been fine since then. The older style was a physical gasket that failed pretty quickly, but have since been discontinued.

For what it's worth, my hissing sound was mostly gone after a couple thousand miles. If you have the old style gaskets you may want to replace those before you get an exhaust leak, though.
