Sorry to bring up this old thread but I didn't see any reason to start a new one about the same subject.
Has anyone else tried this stuff? I just ordered some. I've been reading about it for a while on Autopia. The amateurs and professionals alike rave about how good it works. The only complaints about it that I can find are people who say they miss waxing their car on the weekends but there's really no point in it now. You clean the car with some ONR or a quick detailer when it gets dirty and it looks like you spent 4 hours, claying, polishing and waxing. It's super resistant to swirls, chemical etching and other contaminants. The key is doing all your paint correcting before you apply it. You get everything looking nice (including stripping the waxes and polishes with alcohol solution) then apply the Opti-Coat. There are guys on Autopia that have had this on their cars for 3 years and it's still like the day they applied it. Pretty amazing. |

First thing I did to my car was a polish and Opti-Coat application. I still apply wax from time to time for the hell of it. It really helps my car with the front end. Very easy to take bugs off.
Take your time applying it and get tons of lighting. I left a high spot on the bumper and it dried rock hard. I had to spot polish it down and reapply in that area. |

One thing I noticed is that it doesn't feel super smooth like wax though you can't deny how well water beads.

There are services that will do it for you. Many of them are in OC but they'll drive to LA for the work.

Had my 2011 done here in Portland by Thomas Dekany in June. Best $ spent on my ride so far. Dirt and bird poopoo rinses off in between wages, sparkles like new! He did the wheels, too. Get some!!!

Small bits of swirl marks here and there after about a year and a half. Though they may have been uncaught early on. Most panels are still flawless.

how does he wash his car? I ask because I'm rather certain the few swilrs that I do have were likely introduced the one time I went to the dealership and specifically told those d!ckweeds NOT to wash the car. Ofcourse the next logical step was for them to wash the car so I had to run out to their wash bay raising hell to get them to stop because they wouldn't stop the first 3 times I told the manager.... **** dealerships....
