'55 Bel Air Convertible Restomod Photoshoot - 8/16/14
A couple of months ago, I got a call from my friend and client, Joe Lutz, owner of Hotrod Dynamics. He had a customer who was thinking about selling their recently built '55 Bel Air 'Vert and they wanted to get some really nice photos done of the car for that purpose. I spoke with the owner, a very nice guy by the name of Danny, and we set up a weekend to shoot the car. Unfortunately, mother nature got in the way and we ended up having to postpone almost another month due to my fairly busy photo schedule. We did manage to get great weather this weekend and met up at Joe's shop to start off by taking photos of the car from underneath, arguably the more impressive part of the car.
This car is definitely one of a kind. Joe built a lot of it himself, many parts custom fabricated there in the shop. It features a Fatman chassis, a bolt-on modded Chevy LS2 engine, a built 4L60E automatic and a completely custom interior. Safe to say there isn't much left on this car that's actually stock. Joe built a complete custom dash and console for the car featuring a 7" touchscreen pushing a full stereo build in the doors. The dash was custom made to accommodate a modern HVAC system. I will be curious to see what kind of money this car brings. I know what Mr. Danny has in it and it's more than most people have in their house! Now, on to the photos... Album (photos are at the end): HotRod Dynamics Photoshoots - JPMcG Photography Fav's: 1. The Fatman chassis has been powdercoated, along with many other components underneath, to match the car's paint 2. The five link chromoly rear suspension was a marvel to look at 3. Under the hood sat one of the most tastefully dressed up LS motors I have ever seen 4. Sitting pretty 5. With the top down the car seems as though it sits even lower, the ride height on this car was perfection! 6. The fuel door has been shaved in favor of a behind-the-tail-lamp setup like the '56 and '57 models had, only this one was power articulating 7. The interior is nothing short of amazing, full of custom died leather and custom fabricated dash components 8. This car was full of sunset dreams of yesteryear... Thanks for looking! There's plenty more in the album, over 50 shots in total. This car will be headed to auction soon, I'll post up once I hear the results.
