Hi,
just received the KW V3 finally this week in the UK and have tried to fit them yesterday. I don't like what's happening to be honest, two of the shock absorbers are failing, they are not rebounding, the other two are in the process of failing soon, they come back very, very slow, even when on maximum soft setting. This is not what you were stating in your advertising thread and it is not fair for me, having paid $1300! I've enquired with KW V3 UK and it will cost me way over $700 to recondition them (re-gas/oil, change valves/seals, etc) Shame that situations like this occur on this forum, spoling the community trust. Can you please answer my PMs? Let's sort out this awkward situation in a friendly and constructive manner. Thanks! |

At this point I can only suggest for you to either get them rebuilt at a shared cost to the seller or ship them back for a refund plus the shipping and move on. I offered a compromise and ultimately its up to both of you to get this settled And I hope you all do. To everyone else, If you're not involved please no negative comments the seller feels bad and is doing what he can to help the seller with the rebuilding of the bad shocks. |

a rebuild costs 500 all around from the california location. why is UK charging you so much?
anyway, as someone who's gone through this. your dampers are NOT blown. i dont know the OP, nor you, but here is what i got from one of the senior engineers at KW: Quote:

Just catching up with the thread, had some hectic couple of days
1. The OP has kindly agreed to cover half of the cost of repairing the coilovers, which is fair enough in my view. KW UK charges £120 + VAT (20%) per corner, which is £144 = $232 per corner. Shipping and return shipping fees will also apply, therefore the final bill it's going to be nasty. 2. In the telephone conversation I had with a senior KW UK technician, I've been asked to test the following: a) set stiffness to hard, push the piston down - it went down very easily on rear shocks, one sign that tells it is failed; front shocks seemed OK (with the spring and OEM top mount removed) b) set stiffness to soft, push the piston down - it went exactly the same way, very easily, so point a) was re-confirmed c) with stiffness to hard/soft, pull the piston up - it went up easily on rear ones, and the other way round, same rate, like I did not change the stiffness at all; front shocks, seemed ok So after talking to the technician we concluded to send them in for rebuild (they will then be forward to KW factory in Germany), and whilst the front shocks seemed fine, I wanted to do all of them to avoid failing at a later stage. 2. The OP was helpful and has responded to my PMs, so please don't let this awkward situation and the bad luck to affect its seller reputation! As a buyer, I consider this matter now settled, MODs please feel free to close the thread should you wish so. Thanks everyone for PMs, advice and information, love this forum! |
