I've looked at a few NISMO exhausts, but being new to the Z world, I'm not sure if they are that much louder than the stock ones on the car now, any education is greatly appreciated.

I personally dont think the Nismo exhaust is that much louder than the stock. If you want I have a 5zigen exhaust im trying to get rid of but its missing the Y pipe. This will probably give you a deeper sound nothing too crazy.

If you don't want much volume go with an axleback (NOT short tails)

I would say the Nismo is 10-20% louder than stock considering I couldn't even hear my stock exhaust if the radio was on.

How difficult is it to get a Y pipe?

Thanks for all the info, its appreciated. I think I might be leaning towards a used NISMO full exhaust, a little sound plus the power gains. What should I be looking for cost wise to have something installed?

I should mention that budget is an issue, $500 would really be pushing it, not that I dont realize you get what you pay for, I'm just not willing to go crazy pouring money into the car.

Also, I live in Wichita Ks, so I dont know how shipping comes into play with something like exhaust.

Garageline sells a full CBE for around $500 and is a forum sponsor. Installation will run around $75.00 to $100.00.

from stock to nismo is a complete waste of time in my opinion as sound perspective. use to have a nismo exhaust and can barely tell a a noise diffrence from stock. its your money though do what you like with it but i think its a waste of money for the sound

Nismo is not much louder than stock.

If you just want an increase in sound, look into axle backs like the AAM Short Tails or Top Speed axle back

I personally love my short tails and look forward to hearing them coupled with my new FI resonated test pipes!

Thanks, I take that as good info since you've had them both.

I know the short tails are way louder than I'm looking for, top speed said they are out of stock and don't see that changing anytime soon.

Sound is the first priority but if I can get a couple extra hp out of it then that's a bonus, that's why I was thinking the NISMO system. And I'd like to stick to used, I like a bargain and that helps out other forum members trying to sell.
