Default BMW carries the tradition of giving less for more w/320i

So in order to make a lower priced 3 series, they are bringing back a stripped down 320i model. Problem is. The 3 series is going to price ranges not worth the money. Especially when compared to new entries from Audi and Mercedes.
The M series is where it's at and the entry level 1 series is now at non-entry level pricing. BMW is seeing more competition than it ever has and going upmarket is only going to make it worse.

180hp-3300lbs- Greeeaaat????
8 speed automatic- Why???
Over $40,000 loaded??? Give a $6000 incentive and i might consider.

BMW, Starbucks, I-phones, and World of Warcraft... Get it?

This is a classic case of BMW believing in their own bullshyt.

They have enough followers, a $10K premium isnt going to sway them away

Bet Car & Driver loves it. My last 2 cars were Bavarian but you're right, its getting harder to justify the value equation. The badge carries weight with folks and they count on that.

thats why i made the comment about starbucks and iphones along with BMW. Those things can be lousy but people will buy them based on trend based advertising and false sense of status.

I don't disagree with you at all. I couldn't justify the $10K BMW wants for their car over my Lexus, which was already $10K more than a Toyota

Yeah but Lexus is an excellent value. It's 10k more than toyota but you feel the difference behind the wheel between lex and toyota. 10k between bimmer and lexus. You barely feel the difference.

Guaranteed, this 320i will be the NYC version of a chevy impala in Tx. New Yorkers have a fixation for base 3 series models.

Im glad my daily is a 12 GTI. More power as much if not more room, actually more and significantly less expensive but by no means less quality. I guess if you must have the name plate go for it. Too many other cars that are almost if not nicer at better price points. Cant blame them for trying though, marketing can do wonders!

With options added (leather, NAV, etc), the difference really isn't that big. Being a cheap a$$ that I am, i still buy most parts from Toyota dealership as the same part carries a 20% premium. It's definitely robbery.
