Arrow 1992 Chevrolet Camaro RS - Spotlight

A few months ago I watched this video on YouTube and was really impressed at what can be done with a 20 year old american car.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUYDrPuTnjk

Then I was at a local meet and saw this car and it brought me back to my childhood and knew I had to find out more info on it.

I met the owner and he was really cool guy who knows alot about this platform, so I decided to take a few pics for him and then share them with you guys.

Enjoy the pics!

Notice the subtle rear spoiler that he is running, pretty cool

This is really the angle that the car looks best, notice the long hood and lower bumper section

Adam has done a great job with the paint as well, it looked really good

The interior was just as nice, notice the period correct seats and dash cover, so cool!

This was MY first car. Mine was an '87 IROC edition in AT. Complete with white on black, the IROC wheels, T-tops, pleather seats and yes...a tape deck. It only had the 305 in it, but to a 16 yr old who didn't know any better. It was such a blast to drive. And I had it in SoCal just like this guy. I miss all those mountain roads just for this reason. Sure, the Z is cool, but the Camaro has just as much history and love behind it.

Someday I will get one again.

Had a friend with a very nice Z28 of that year/style, LS1 H/C/I/T56 swap. 428hp to the rollers. Neat car.

Also know a guy with a '92 Fox 5.0 with $10K under the body. It will pull well over 1G on a pad, and felt more planted and responsive in the twisties than the S2000 I rode in through the same twisties.

Just because it's old, doesn't mean it sucks! It just means it might need some work...

It's understandable, this car is pretty polarizing.

That unfortunately has given the Camaro a bad rap

Both this and the Fox bodies are potent platforms once you dail in the suspensions. I know most of these platforms are primarly used as drag build but I would love to build either one as a canyon carver.

The 5.0 that the guy had MM build up for him that I rode in felt VERY! competent. Very. As in, I have yet to sit in another car that handled as adroitly, save a ZR1 or my Z06. The Z06 felt almost identical, while the ZR1 felt more polished and just as precise.

The 87 camaro IROC-Z is the car i missed in my ownership experience. My friend had one though and it was a blast to drive. I remember how these bad muthaf***az sounded off the lot. Damn!!!! Why don't cars sound like that anymore???
While the 80's was a sucky time for GM build quality and suspensions. It was an awesome time for high performance motors and transmissions. The Gm 4 speed auto's were very exciting for the time. You couldn't manually shift them without buying an expensive & complicated shift kit BUT, those things shifted themselves like pro's. The first of the exciting autos were in camaros, corvettes, monte carlo's and regal T-ype and grand national.

Wow, that sounds awesome. Would love to see pics or more info of that 5.0.

Honestly, I have been toying around the idea of building a future Fox body just because there is such a large aftermarket/ OEM reproduction market.

I would have to +1 your entire post, you get it because you were around the cars in their prime. Nowadays these cars are driven into the ground and overlooked by most people but there is a ton of potential!
