Stillen supercharged | Clutch kit or Quaife Diffy
Hey Forum,
Have a stillen supercharged 350z nismo. Have some tax money left over for either an upgraded clutch/flywheel setup or rear differential (quaife). Which direction should I go? I am hoping to get some low end torque and try to get the supercharge to spin up a bit quicker. I figured, lighter flywheel would do the job... but have heard 3.9/4.08 gears on a quaife can also boost the fun factor. I do occasional HSDE's... factory LSD is terrible with this charger kit |

yeah if nothing is wrong with your clutch, I'd do the upgraded differential. Will definitely give you more performance with shorter gears and laying down the power versus a lighter flywheel. These cars are incomplete without a proper diff anyways. But remember, with shorter gears you'll have more problems with higher power down the road..

I upgraded to a Competition Clutch twin disc set up and changed my transmission fluid at the same time one of the best choices I had made with my 350Z. Later I ended up installing the OS Giken super locker LSD and kept stock gears.

I am at 375wHP on the stock Stillen pulley. It's about to tick over 60k miles. About 5K miles on the supercharger. I did have plans to go to the next size up... 9lb i believe. Should hurdle me over the 400. Thats really it. Pushing the in-tank fuel system at that point. No plans for 500 on this platform.
I am going to a 370z nismo for next year and will go for 650-700wHP. Actually just picked up a blown motor to start the build during the summer. |

Luckily, i have an 07 Nismo... which is running the VQ35HR motor. From what I have been told and read, bottom end can take more torque than the DE.
I test drove a 2018 Nismo a few weeks ago. Similar feel to my nismo. Recaro seats are awesome. Almost bought it. $34K with only 5K miles. I am hoping Nissan releases some info about the rumored VR30DDTT powered Z. Quote:

Well, looks like "Fate" decided for me. Update: After going to the A-A kit, getting nasty clutch slippage WOT grabbing 3rd gear.
Went with a ZSpeed stage 2 quiet kit with steel flywheel, wilwood clutch master, and new hardware. Was going to use Redline MT-85 and Motul fluids. Luckily, I have a lift. Just need a transmission jack. Probably tackle this in a couple weeks. |

After the A-A upgrade, I installed a stage 2 Zspeed upgraded clutch/flywheel set up and have about 2K miles on it. Went down a pulley size. Got an updated tune from the Seb and went for a dyno. Maxed out at 12PSI and hit 455wHP (remember, a 350zHR).
I am most likely maxing out the S.C. at this point. Just blowing hot air. I have been thinking about getting TopGunz upgraded larger intercooler, but not sure if the price point will be worth it. Working on a TT motor build for the 14' Nismo right now. Might just use the funds for this. Not sure yet... shall see. |
