If it gets cold enough to freeze the battery, you need to be off the roads and holed up somewhere warm.

Electric cars not working well in the cold
I recently saw a news report on serious issues with the Tesla 3 during our Canadian winters. The door handles and windows completely freeze up making opening the doors impossible. This leads to the question; did Tesla even perform any severe cold weather testing?

That's alright - the panel gaps on some Model 3's are big enough to climb in that way!
(yes, I'm going to Hell. Elon will be there to greet me, though). Batteries don't do well in extreme temperatures - matters not if those are cold or heat. I'm guessing these are designed to work better in heat though. |

In some trucks. There is an option for a block heater and battery heater for cold temps.
A lead acid battery will freeze solid if it doesn't have a charge in it. 2 yrs ago. I had to replace 4, 6v batteries in my motorhome because the batteries froze and broke the cases. The motorhome was sitting at a RV dealer waiting on to be repaired. It sat from Nov to Feb in Cleveland. No way for me to keep the batteries charged.
