Dealerships, large auto repair chains, quick lube locations, tire shops,.... sell data about your car such as mileage, work being done,... to insurance companies, car data compilers and the like.

So next time you tell the insurance company you only drive that car 2500 miles a year, you better mean it. Or do all the work on your car yourself and keep your car off the grid as much as possible.
