Experience with higher mileage G37s?
I'm trying to hunt down a unicorn for my fun car, and I'm very settled on a G37 Sedan 6MT. I've found one... around 75k on the clock and that's the absolute best I can find on this side of the country right now. (MY 2011-2013 is what I'm after)
Has anyone had any experience with higher mileage Infinitis? (I know it's not THAT high but I'm going to drive it a bit and I'd like to get a few years of fun garage queen status out of it) It will not be a daily driver, but I'll have a hard time resisting driving it as well. I plan on building it into a Tail of the Dragon machine for the family, and ultimately it would be some cosmetics, full bolt ons and tune, and a quaife LSD with some suspension bits (coilovers, sway bars, etc) and any TLC the car may need. I appreciate any input!

My 2 cents:
I have a G37s 7at that just turned 50k miles. The only two repairs I've had to do were replacing diff bushing and cleaning the throttle body. It is a relatively simple car to own, especially if you have/had a 370z. I don't foresee any special TLC other than the typical stuff you already know about the 370z. Side note: one of the two (if not both) fuel level sensors recently gone out on my FX50 (65k miles), now my fuel gauge always reads empty. That could happen in the G and Z I think. Good luck with your search!

I have a '10 G37 7AT sedan bought it with 3 miles and now @ 130k. Bone stock. New shocks and springs. Had the throttle body cleaned @ 90k. It was stalling. Once serviced no issues since. The diff bushing needs to be replaced. I'd get the throttle body cleaned first thing for a used one. The AT transmission is reliable and simply need to be on top of fluids. The car would benefit from a tune. The driver's side door arm rest is showing signs of wear. All electronics and electrical system has been reliable. There's a G37x but only came with 7AT. Would have been great if it came with a 6MT.

Thank you all for your input!
I expected things to be relatively similar to caring for a 370Z, and I've got about 120k combined mileage experience there plus the silly amount of reading I do here. I really would like a 6MT but an AWD could be a great time and I don't mind the 7AT after having owned a Q50 for a bit. If you guys come across a 6MT shout at me! |

I've been looking at 6MT coupes of the same gen for a few weeks. I'm considering getting one as they're pretty inexpensive these days and I really miss driving my 6MT Z. I'd get another MT Z34 but would like to share the experience with the kiddo so need a back seat, hence the G coupe.
6MT coupes are few and far between and the sedan even moreso. If I run across one, will let you know! |

Ha, feel like you and me are on the same path. I'm looking to buy a new house as kiddo is growing and there's another in the oven so we're going to quickly outgrow our current house. Figure the sensible plan is House -> GTR even though I REALLY would it the other way around. I'd like to flip our current house to a rental and then that'll be my monthly annuity to justify the GTR with the wife

we just sold my wife's g35 sedan, it had 209,000 miles and we owned it for 8 years. We did nothing to this car, it was neglected. 5000-9000 mile oil change intervals and when it was changed we did the $16.97 walmart changes. I finally changed the plugs @ 200,000 thinking they'd be pretty much gone. They didn't even replacing. The ownership of that car was probvably the single greatest ownership experience I've ever had. I believe Infiniti makes the best cars on the market and the overly positive experience of owning hers is what made me decide to buy the Q50s. I like it far more than I did my Z. It's basically a 4 seater Z.
Buy it with confidence!

I do miss driving a manual a lot though. God help me if they decide to crank out a manual for that car.

There's a red 6spd sedan for sale by owner in the Chicago area. It's got 101k on it though...

Don't like red on a G sedan? This may change your mind.

CSC failure is the biggest problem, other than that the paper gallery gaskets (2008-2011)
I love my G!
