Needing people's opinions
Hey guys I'm new to the form and I was wanting to get some opinions.
I'm looking into getting a 07 350z hr. It has 83k miles and is bone stock. I'm paying just under 10k for the car. I wanna know if you guys think it's a good buy or is that too many miles. I know nissans run for a long time if you take care of them and I know the vq motors want to be beaten like a red headed stepchild. But the only thing that worries me is that it will break in 2 weeks. Any input would be appreciated. Last edited by TheTnCuban; 01-17-2017 at 06:14 PM. |

Buying used is a gamble.... Here's a couple things you can do....
1. Have a mechanic look at it before purchase. The transmission will be the weakest link though they're reliable. Look for structural damage. Going under car with flashlight will be necessary. 2. Give it a major tune up by a GTR certified mechanic.

I'll look into that. I work for a Nissan dealership in Tennessee and we are owned by sonic automotive. The car is in one of our other stores in Texas so I won't be able to physically look at it till it gets to my dealership. From the pictures I've seen of it it's extremely clean but I don't know what the underneath looks like. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you can get it out on a solo test drive n have your dealer raise the car up and inspect it and put a light on that transmission n check for integrity leaks etc. You'll be golden.

Honestly, nobody here can tell you whether it will break in two weeks or not, seriously.
You need to test drive as many HR 350z as you can, don't matter low or high mileages, so you understand for what the car should feel and sound like. PPI is a start, but some PPI are just mostly visuals. You need experienced HR owners and techs to check for specific things. Check 350z forums for common issues on HR, then have your dealership tech look into those specific areas on this specific car. Best of luck!

if its a Z thats been stock its entire life, thats a BIG plus. An unmolested 350z is hard to come by nowadays and 83k miles isnt bad. However, I would still take it to a mechanic for a full inspection. At 83k though, your creeping up on the 100k maintenance, so make sure to keep that in mind. There are a lot of things, not major, that start to creep up near 100k. Window motors, lock actuators, stereo goes bad, fuel gauge doesnt read correctly, suspension bushings start going bad, need new rotors and pads, if stick, you may need to replace the clutch and flywheel, fuel injectors, spark plugs...not all at once but these will need replacing around that mileage.
Ask the buyer to cover the cost or remove what it cost from the amount hes trying to sell it for, which wont be much. Knowing your a motivated buyer if the cars inspection comes out perfect might help entice him to drop the cost of it. Last edited by Zerafian; 01-20-2017 at 03:22 PM. |

No it's not.... not for the year and specs. The VQ can run solid 250k+ miles if we'll maintained?
