Ford dealers being *icks again on the Focus RS
Well just they have been dicks on the GT350 with markup, they are doing it again on the Focus RS. I mean really? 60K?? 60K will get you a nice used 997.2 911. Its a Ford Focus, its not worth 60K. Even a markup to 45K is too much.

That's nuts hey? Let's take a bare bones basic car give it a tune, a body kit and some Recaros and sell it for three times the price!
I never did understand that. I guess it's a good business decision on Ford's part assuming there are customers for it. Sure wouldn't be me though. I guess everyone thinks they can pick up a a Focus and drive like Ken Block. A buddy picked up and ST model. It is something like 265hp instead of the RS 350hp or whatever it is. Peppy little car, but it's still not worth what they go for in my opinion. |

Can't wait for the day when Teslas direct sale model will replace this archaic money gouging system, I just hope the dealership owners wont afflict their greed on other industries in the process.
even at MSRP its pushing the envelope for an essentially an econobox focus. 50-60k are you kidding? Mark my words after the dust settles and enough RS's are pumped out it will be another 35k car collecting acid rain and bird **** on dealer lots. |

Trying to find the article, but I think RS is different from ST.
Originally, in 2014 or 2015,the RS was released for Euro only. Then was surprised they release on US too. |

I know the dealer lobby is strong but why can't Amazon + other tech giants + manufacturers team up and overthrow the dealer lobby?
Cut out the middle man, open own repair stations - sell cars direct to customer on Amazon or even manufacturers website, either ship them to the door or allow pick up at the factory/ service center. I've read that the cost to R/D + manufacture your average car is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than MSRP. The MSRP has dealer profit built in, I wouldn't be surprise if they leave 30% or so of the price for the 'dealer' cut it out and your average car price will decrease by thousands, a base corolla would be more like 8k than 15k. |
