On the other hand, have you thought about getting the interior professionally detailed before turning it in? I've seen some amazing jobs turning a beat up looking seat into almost brand new. It may be cheaper and you won't have to deal with the headache of a seat cover.

Good point and we're going to have to do that with the Civic lease as it also has light gray interior. (Never give a car to an 18yo boy to use as a college commuter car that has light-colored interior. Lesson learned.)
