BGTV8's new home
The family construction project has finally delivered Phase 1 - the man-cave.
This is a 10m x 20m shed with 5 x 4m x 10m bays We started install of the 4-post hoist ($1400 from a liquidator's sale) today, the race car has taken up residence already, the Z32 also came home yesterday and a few weekends ago I installed all the racking. The builder doing the house has agreed to lend me his apprentice who will do all the benches (in timber, with stainless cover) during the next 10 days, and the pedestal drill and grinder/linisher will be installed next weekend and the parts-washer the following weekend The front area in bay 1 has a surplus couch and the chippie will panel the wall in chip-board to mount the big-screen and surround sound in time for Bathurst. Bay 1 will host the garden tool area (concession to SWMBO) and also a 3.5m x 4m area for benches, drill/grinder/washer. There is 3-phase power for the MiG/TiG welder (nephew has a welder/machinist ticket) as well. Bay 2 hosts the tow car and my 1972 roadie. Bay 3 hosts the race car and 2-post clear floor hoist (race car visible in one of the photo's). Bay 4 hosts the Z32 (nephews car) which is currently set up for track days - engine out shortly for full forged rebuild and uprated FI and will run in the 2017 season in the local state race champs. Bay 5 is the space reserved for the current race car once the Z34 race build is complete. It will also house the lay-flat trailer used to transport cars to events. Space exists to add bay 6 if required. Enjoy ...... |

The trailer is a "lay-flat" design which works best with single axle ... trailer is rated to carry 1450kg and the Z32 only weighs 1280 so we have sufficient margin.
There are lay-flat designs rated to 2000kg but they were not certified when I bought mine. |

That's the size garage I need. I would add insulation and ceailing fans to it.
