Hey guys. I'm moving from Johns Creek, GA to Sacramento in a couple months. Do you guys have any suggestions to newcomers to NorCal or anything about the Z community

Smile Moving from Atlanta Suburbs to Sacramento

Hey guys. I'm moving from Johns Creek, GA to Sacramento in a couple months. Do you guys have any suggestions to newcomers to NorCal or anything about the Z community there? ZAtlanta here is pretty big along with Atlanta Gs (when I had my G35). I don't know exactly what part of Sac we'll be moving to but we'll be moving by the end of August. Are there parts of the city I should stay away from?

Also any laws related to car modding I need to watch out for like blacked out tails, window tints, loudness of exhaust? My exhaust setup is soon to be a combination of ART pipes and AAM short tails which is hella loud. Would I get a ticket for being too loud?

I used to live in California, and to be quite honest, it really will depend on the cop thats pulling you over. Window tint is a big one out there. If you come across a total dickhead cop, they will pull you over for it, then on the other hand, a lot of them will not even waste their time. Check out this link. It might help a little bit Aftermarket, Performance and Add-On Parts

The lack of a front plate, window tint and an excessively loud exhaust will all get you ticketed; although it is dependent on the officer. Most CHP officers could care less, it's the small town law enforcement looking for revenue that will pull you over for the tint etc.

Plus your out of state car will have to pass CA smog, so no headers or HFC. Welcome to California.

The big cities are just too short on officers to begin with. Most won't waste their time on missing front plates, loud exhaust, tints, cats, extremely low, overly stickered, crazy cambered cars. It is usually an add-on / fix-it ticket. If they stop you for a moving violation or see a safety issue like a missing brake light that is when you are most likely to be ticketed. As-is they won't mess with you. I was stopped (driving my beater) for a missing brake light (how he spotted me during the day is beyond me - just bad luck) but I explained that I just picked up a bulb, showed it to him, and was going to install it when I got home. He then looked at my tints (which by the way is so faded, I thought I did not have any - bought the car used) and gave me a fix-it ticket.

Also, there are so many laws that enforcement is tough. I would not worry about it as much about this and focus more on other real CA issues like expensive housing, bad schools, CYA politicians (since you're at the Capital), and water to wash your car.

Thank you all for your responses! Maybe I should do just the short tails then and no art pipes so it's not excessively loud. I guess I'll keep the craziness for just the tracks.

Tinted tail lights must be able to be seen from 500 feet. I have 50% tint on my windows and tinted tail lights and have been right next to the police within out any issue.

I love sacramento. I would live downtown if you like night life. I live in atlanta but am an airline pilot and Sacramento is the only domestic layover I do besides Las Vegas.
