Advice on mods on my Z? Moving to Renton/Seattle soon
Hey guys i plan to move to renton washington in the next few months. Im reading a lot of horror stories about mods as i have a 2013 nismo.
How strictly enforced is the exhaust law there still? Do any of you guys have cold start complaints for neighbors? It also notes how 2009+ cars do not need emissions tests as long as your car has a california approved stamp under the hood. I know this is probably a dumb question as washington requires front plates. Do i have to register my cars in washington if i still have them registered to my parents house in south carolina? Any other advice at all on anything and everything would be greatly appreciated!

Here's some of my experiences so far,
I've got a 09 base w/ sport package, everything is stock besides Stillen Gen 3 and Stillen CBE. I've never received any complaints about my exhaust, but my neighbors are pretty chill. It does get really loud in the morning though. I also have a few friends, some with WRX's, one with an Evo, another with a 240 and their exhausts are fairly loud, especially the Evo, and none of them have ever gotten into any trouble with police for their exhausts. I'm also not sure about what you'll have to do with registration, but I've had my 370 for about 7 months now and have been driving it around pretty frequently with no front plate. The guy I bought it from had it like this for 3 years and said he's never had any problems with no front plate either. |

I've had pretty similar experiences here as Vaibe. I have FI exhaust and have never been stopped or heard a complaint. I've also driven without the front plate since I got it and never been stopped, but that will vary depending on the cops in your area. As for the registration I'm not sure, check with the DOL, they'll be able to tell you more.
