Mechanical issues after modifications

Hey guys,

I am getting ready to install and oil cooler, cold air intake, exhaust and then dyno tune.

Has anyone ever experienced any issues mechanically down the road after they install mods, perhaps some issues that weren't foreseen.

I know there is the law in place that protects aftermarket parts against a warranty (to a certain extent).

I guess my questions is, what reasonable risks are there with some of these basic mods?

If you get good quality parts they will last the only unforeseen error to be made is if you get the g3 intakes when you install make sure to protect the ac lines.

on my cars and past cars no issue with mods. i only use high quality aftermarket bits and use the right tools to install. if the fitment is iffy i remove it from the car and just sell it locally and either leave that part stock, or find another brand/model.

my G is 10yrs old now with intake and lots of suspension bits, stereo,etc all aftermarket.
no issue.

one thing is to read and learn about it first before you do it.

The parts that you're listing are mostly non-moving parts and aren't considered wear parts. You should be fine. For the most part they're just plumbing and shouldn't cause any issues (I've seen intakes made of PVC -.-). Just make sure that nothings touching them after install, vibration still occurs and some intakes are notorious for rubbing through AC lines.

Just do one mod at a time where you can troubleshoot more effectively if a problem does arise. You shouldn't have any issues at all on what you mentioned on your mod list.

The only reasonable risk I could think of is your sanity becoming insanely driving the Z like a happy mad man!

Watch for anywhere your oil cooler lines make contact. Since the engine moves within the chassis, any bare SS braid will slowly hacksaw through anything it is in contact with where it moves even the slightest bit. Where contact is unavoidable, I use thick rubber protective sleeving and inspect its condition every other oil change. If your oil cooler kit uses a soft rubber or nylon exterior, than the opposite is true, and anywhere it contacts metal of the chassis will slowly wear away at the hose.
