Change O&F for the first time, only took 5 quarts ?
I let the old hot oil run out with oil cap off till I didn't see any drips. I did the same with filter. Then used one 5 quart container of Mobile 1 to refill, ran the car to operating temp, checked for leaks then let sit 30 min. and oil stick reads close to full or H on the stick ? Wait several more hours and same. I then had to run out for a total of 5 mile drive lots of stop and go a little open road, ran it like I always do - spirited and maybe one 0-60 blast. Oil temp hit 220. I pulled in garage popped hood so I'd check oil first thing in the am about 8 hours later, and it's still looks like its close or at the H ? I'm guessing thing should be ok & I'll continue to check it ? I thought it took 5 1/8 quarts of oil ???
Just wanted to make sure I'm not missing something, first 370Z ??? Any help or comments would be appreciated - Bill Miller |

I know that the quantity of oil drained for me varies depending on whether I have the car on 2 or 4 jack stands. With 2 jack stands, I usually have a little bit of oil left in the jug. With 4 jack stands, I typically use all of the 5 qt jug and have to use a little more from a single qt to get it to the hi mark on the dipstick.

I put in 5 quarts of Royal Purple and forget about it. I do check the oil every fill-up, and I've never had to put in any more between changes.

Oh man if you just look at the way that oil pan is, you can tell it needs to be tilted slightly forward. If it's the other way, tilted back, you'll have residual oil which sucks. I put in 5qt and she's full as well

I've never seen mine above maybe 235 until this past weekend driving to/from Vegas. The outside temperature was 122 at Baker (gateway to Death Valley), and going 85+ up the long hill towards Vegas, the oil temp shot up to 260+..... Shopping for an oil cooler, right now. |
