I've tried to search threads on how soon is to soon to change O&F, but thought maybe some of you would care to weigh in on the subject. I'm just thinking of doing it over the holiday. I picked up some Mobile One 5-30 on sale at the store today. Have an OEM filter & drain plug gasket, thought what the heck can't hurt to change it now - right ?

If that's all the mileage you have on it, then absolutely change the oil. I would change the oil as soon as the break-in period is over (1200 miles). After that, I change every 5K miles. Lots of people do less than 5K. Manual recommends 7500. I was about 2K into my last oil change when I had an impromptu track day at which I heated up the oil enough to compromise it (>260F) so I changed it a couple of days later.
I love that Wal-Mart has 5 qts Mobil 1 for $25 all the time. My oil changes are less than $40 ![]()

Glad to hear you like using Mobil 1. I've heard some people say wait till 3000 miles to use Mobil 1 & others say use it when ever you want ? I thought why not use it at 1750, lots of cars use it right from the factory. Thanks Everyone for your thoughts - Bill Miller |
