Oil Extractor FTW
So after a recent oil change, where too much oil was added - I need a way to pull about .8 qts from the engine...
My options all looked really messy, and pretty time consuming. I looked online and found this: CTA Oil Extractor & Fluid Evacuator (SKU: 9355459) It is made to pull oil from dipstick tubes, and can also be used to fully extract oil from Trans and Diffs - as well as aid in changing brake fluids ... really does anyting you want it too. After using it today - this thing works FLAWLESSLY! No leaks - pulls oil as fast or as slow as you want - plus as the oil is flowing down the tube you get a chance to see how clean or dirty your oil is (of course you can easily do this by looking at the color of the oil on a dip stick - but this allows you to see any and all particles flowing with the oil) ... Wouldn't be a bad idea to see between oil changes if you have excess particulates floating around in there. All that said, this thing is a life safer. Clean and very easy to use. I plan on hanging on to it for all the fluid changes on the car. Even after doing a regular oil change I still may use it suck out any remaining oil in the bottom of the pan. Its awesome.

Also, I went ahead and measured the exact amount of fluid it can hold.
To the top it will hold 6.3 qts. The black hash marks I made on the bottle are: 3qts for the middle, and .8 qts at the bottom ... You can set this up really easily if you have some good measuring cups and using water as a tool to measure its capacity at required levels.

Is there too much that should be drained from the engine? Dry start would worry me. Besides, if you let your oil get to the point where you need to evacuate "all" the oil from the engine...it's your own fault.
This thing creates a pressure that would pull oil down from the top end. Can be a really bad thing. Again, I would be worried about dry start up top with this thing.
