Default Problems in paradise

Something I wish to share wiht other 370 enthousiasts.

In April 2011 we bought a Nissan 370 Z roadster, 31-LNN-9 at Nissan Visscher in Gorinchem, The Netherlands.

On Saturday, September 15th 2012, during our holiday in France, our car broke down.

We called Nissan Assistance and they would send us help. The Nissan dealer who came to our assistance was not able to fix the car by the side of the road, so the car was towed to the most nearby Nissan dealer, Garage Bodin in Bayeux. However they did not start reparations before Monday September 17th.

We called Nissan Assistance again and they told us we had the right to a replacement car for three workdays however because it was Saturday late in the afternoon they would not be able to find a car for us at that time. They would call us back on Monday at about 2 p.m. to let us know what the Nissan Garage was going to do with our car.
Because we had no other option we decided not to put our faith in Nissan Assistance and we hired a car ourselves. Instead of what we were told we had no problem at all to hire a car in Bayeux!

On Monday September 17th Nissan Assistance did not contact us so we ourselves called the Nissan Garage in Bayeux. We were told that they did not possess the necessary equipment to fix our car and that they had send our car on September 17th to another Nissan Dealer in Saint Lo, Nissan Dealer Dessoude.
On Wednesday September 19th we were told by Nissan Assistance Nederland that Dessoude was not able to make a diagnose about the problem of the car. They would ask Nissan France for help.

On Friday September 21st Nissan Assistance told us that Nissan France was not able to fix our car either and Nissan Assistance would send the car back to The Netherlands. It would take about 10 workdays for the car to arrive in Holland. When I asked them how we were supposed to get home, we were told that Nissan Assistance could not do anything more for us because we already had a replacement car en we had to find out for ourselves because it was not there responsibility. As a matter of fact: we had hired and paid for the car ourselves. Till this day we did not receive any compensation what so ever from Nissan.
Because we were shocked and not satisfied at all by their answer we contacted Nissan Nederland the same Friday for help and to explain them our situation. We also mentioned that it seemed very strange to us that Nissan would not provide us with a replament car since our car was just 26 months old; 51.000 km en was not really a cheap car and had always been maintained by Nissan. I was told that the two managers where busy and that they would call us back. Again, till this day no-one has ever called us back.

Luckily my wife had kept her assurance by the ANWB (Dutch road service) and they were so kind and friendly to arrange a replacement car for us so we were able to get home.

Monday, September 24th, I called the dealer where we bought our car and asked them if they could arrange a replacement car for the time that we had to wait for our car to be brought back to Holland and to be repaired. His colleague would call us back; again no-one called.
The next day, Tuesday September 25th, I called them again and asked them about the replacement car. This time I was told that I only was entitled to a replacement car for three days, that I already had those three days and that I only could have car if I paid for it myself.

Today, October 3th, we still have not got our car back (which broke down on September15!); we have no replacement car en we still do not know if our garage in The Netherland will be able to fix our car.

In the US, a loaner car is only a convenience item, and most nissan dealers don't offer them.

What happened to your car? It just stopped running?

Can you give us some info on how the car broke down? Was the car smoking or making strange sounds?

Maybe someone here, on the forums, can help diagnose for you.
